About Us

In November, 2011 Lamar University Press began operations on the beautiful campus of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.

With the use of the latest in book production technology and distribution, we will keep our costs down and hence are able to publish genres that other university presses tend to avoid. In addition to the kinds of nonfiction readers expect from a university press, we will publish fiction (including short story collections), poetry, drama, and creative nonfiction.

Lamar University Press avoids large print runs, relying instead upon print-on-demand technology. Our books remain in print indefinitely and are stored in computers rather than as printed books stashed away in boxes. We examine manuscripts with the rigorous standards people expect from a university press, put our books through careful editorial processes, and publish only outstanding works.

The director of Lamar University Press comes from the successful Ink Brush Press. Those wanting to know how a print-on-demand press operates might examine the Ink Brush Press website.
